Japanese Disaster Scammers

The scumbag scammers have started in already on the disaster that has struck in Japan. Here is a very recent e-mail I received to donate money. Tzu Chi Foundation does appear to be a legit fund raising and aid organization but the e-mail I received was from a scammer . Basically he wanted me to send money to the Tzu Chi Foundation but gave me his address. I did link the real site to wherever you see the Tzu Chi Foundation.

This is the 1st email:

I replied: Should we all just send cash?

The Answer was:

2nd email:

Dear Scott
Thank you for been part of our donors to give to our Emergency Relief Fund. These types of funds ensure that our medical teams can react to theJapan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami emergency and humanitarian crises allover the world, particularly neglected crises that remain outside the media spotlight. Your contribution will be earmarked for our Emergency Relief Fund. Think about the children who lost their parents or parents who will never see their loved once again indeed its a sad story.

We know you did like to jump on a plane and help, but a lot of us can’t
and so many has  donated money, food, medical equipment, etc already, but they still wondered what else they could still do but at this point fundsare needed. Please make contributions directly to Tzu Chi Foundation organizations (Our American Representative) rather than relying on othersto make the donation on your behalf to ensure contributions are receivedand used for intended purposes.

But if you are reading this, chances are, the people of Japan need thosefunds more than you or I do. Whatever you can afford will make adifference in Japan, Who knows when the lives of our family and friends will be on the line…? But remember for every smile in Japan you madethem smile. Money isn’t going to solve this problem, but it’s going to getthe supplies that are needed to the people who need them as soon aspossible. For the short term, that’s what’s important. All proceeds godirectly to Japan relief efforts. Once again thank you very much for your bounteousness towards the people of Japan. Please make payment to ourAmerican representative with the information below:

So I replied again: Your answer is extremely evasive to the simple question that I asked. Should we all just send cash?
To which I received an immediate answer;
3rd email:
Mr Scott

Japan. We hope to hear from you soon.
END OF 3RD E-MAIL
Again, I would like to stress that The Tzu Chi Foundation does exist but if you feel to urge to send them money, please to the their website and donate through the proper channels to be sure the money you send actually reaches victims of the truly tragic event instead of the low life scumbags who exploit these things for their own gain. Make sure the scumbag scammers get nothing and pass it on to your friends. Thanks.

About Scott

Regular men worry about bank balances, bills, waistlines, wifes, mistress' actual or potential, jobs, tires on the car, and politics. Sailors worry about boats. I sail, it is that simple. If you were talking about politics, religion, economics, money, business, your job, or your kids, I was probably not listening. Sorry, I am a sick man and claim no purchase on sanity.
